Freight Forwarder

Role Overview

The primary purpose of this role is to manage the smooth and cost-effective movement of freight, ensuring that services are delivered in line with customer expectations, company procedures, and service level agreements. The successful candidate will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records and supporting the wider team in achieving departmental goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate shipments across various modes of transport (road, air, sea).
• Ensure all shipment documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
• Liaise with customers, suppliers, and service providers to ensure smooth operations.
• Provide exceptional customer service and understand specific client requirements.
• Operate internal systems (including Azyra, MS Office, and Thyme-IT).
• Generate sales invoices and process costs such as accruals and purchase invoices.
• Respond to queries promptly or escalate where necessary.
• Comply with all company policies, legal, and regulatory standards.
• Support day-to-day administrative duties and general office tasks.
• Maintain health and safety standards and contribute to a safe working environment.
• Provide cover during staff holidays or absences as needed.

Essential Requirements

• Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a transport or logistics environment.
• Leaving Certificate or equivalent education.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Attention to detail and high clerical accuracy.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable

• Third-level qualification in Logistics, Transport, or International Trade.
• Experience with multi-modal freight operations.
• Training or experience in Dangerous Goods handling.
• Customs clearance experience (training can be provided).
