Empire Recruitment is proud to be recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join their growing finance team.

Working closely with the Accounts Manager, you'll play an important role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business. You'll collaborate with both the Commercial and Personal Lines teams, ensuring financial records are accurate, payments are processed efficiently, and excellent service is delivered to customers and business partners.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Assisting with month-end reporting and finance processes.
  • Preparing and maintaining aged debt reports and proactively monitoring outstanding balances.
  • Reconciling insurer, customer, and company accounts accurately and efficiently.
  • Processing daily cash transactions in line with company procedures.
  • Supporting the administration and setup of direct debit accounts.
  • Liaising with underwriters to ensure payments are allocated and posted correctly.
  • Issuing receipts and maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Monitoring direct debit collections and following up on missed or defaulted payments.
  • Investigating and resolving payment queries and account discrepancies.
  • Building positive working relationships with customers, insurers, underwriters, and colleagues.
  • Providing general administrative and accounting support to the wider finance team.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in an accounts, finance, or credit control role.
  • Experience using Applied Relay or similar accounting or insurance management systems.
  • Strong numerical ability with excellent reconciliation skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Confidence dealing with customers and colleagues by telephone, email, and in person.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.

Desirable

  • Experience working within the insurance or financial services industry.
  • Knowledge of direct debit processes and payment administration.

They are seeking an experienced IT Systems Super User to lead onboarding, project coordination, and the ongoing management, optimisation and continuous improvement of the new system across the organisation.

Project & Onboarding Management

• Lead the internal implementation and rollout of the new Transport Management System (TMS).
