Empire Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of their successful Retrofit client in Co. Cavan

Our client requires a Surveyor to join their team

The Role:

The Retrofit Surveyor plays a key role in the successful delivery of residential energy retrofit projects. This position involves carrying out site inspections, coordinating with contractors and clients, maintaining accurate project documentation, and ensuring all works comply with SEAI requirements and relevant quality, environmental, and health and safety standards.

The successful candidate will combine technical knowledge with strong organisational and communication skills to support projects from initial survey through to completion, ensuring a high standard of customer service throughout.

Roles & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out property inspections to assess retrofit works and verify that completed installations meet the required specifications and SEAI standards.
  • Support the administration of retrofit projects, ensuring all documentation is completed accurately and on time.
  • Work closely with contractors, project teams, and external assessors to ensure projects progress efficiently and any issues are resolved promptly.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with homeowners by providing professional guidance and responding to technical queries where required.
  • Attend site visits and project meetings, recording key actions and maintaining organised project records.
  • Keep project management systems up to date with site photographs, inspection notes, correspondence, and project milestones.
  • Monitor outstanding defects or remedial works and confirm they are completed to the required quality standard.
  • Assist with the administration of SEAI grant and incentive processes, ensuring compliance with programme requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records for all assigned projects, including customer details, contractor information, and site documentation.
  • Liaise with internal departments to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and customer expectations are consistently met.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and supporting documentation as required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance processes and service delivery.
  • Stay informed of developments in the retrofit and energy efficiency sector to ensure best practice is maintained.

Quality, Compliance & Health & Safety

  • Follow the organisation's Quality, Environmental, and Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems.
  • Complete all required quality and compliance documentation, including corrective action records where necessary.
  • Promote safe working practices by identifying and reporting hazards or potential risks.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in line with company policies, industry regulations, and relevant legislation.
  • Adhere to company driving procedures, complete vehicle safety checks, and comply with all applicable road traffic regulations.

Requirements

  • Experience in residential construction, retrofit, surveying, or a related technical field.
  • Good understanding of SEAI retrofit requirements and energy efficiency measures is desirable.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and confident using project management software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with clients, contractors, and colleagues.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A proactive approach to delivering high-quality customer service.
  • Full, clean driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites.

The client is well established in the building industry in Ireland and as such drivers with previous experience transporting building/ construction materials would be an ideal fit, however drivers from all backgrounds will be considered for the position.

Given the nature of the business, deliveries may vary from day to day, this can range from multidrop runs to long haul Country runs with single deliveries. Drivers usually start between the hours of 07:00 – 08:00 and finish between 15:30 – 17:00 however as any driver knows this may be earlier or later on busy days or long distance timed deliveries. As such successful drivers will need to have a degree of flexibility around start & finish times. Starting location will be at the depot 15KM outside Cavan town.
